The problem class

High-power mobile equipment traditionally runs a diesel engine sized for the worst five minutes of the duty cycle, idling through the rest. AC distribution adds transformers, switchgear, and conversion losses at every stage. A hybrid DC architecture sizes generation for the average load, covers peaks from storage, and moves power on a single DC bus, so the machine gets smaller, quieter, and cheaper to run.
